About
Chad Enright

Chad Enright is the current Kitsap County Prosecutor and is running for re-election this fall.

Kitsap County raised and dedicated

Chad began practicing law for Case & Hemstreet Law in 2004. Although it was a private practice, he was contracted to do felony public defense for the county. Chad was hired by Kitsap County Prosecutor Russ Hauge in 2008 and began as a felony trial attorney, handling cases from general felonies and mental health civil commitments to sex offenses and domestic violence cases. Chad served four years as the Chief of the Felony and Juvenile Division under Prosecutor Tina Robinson prior to being elected Kitsap County Prosecutor in November 2018.

Chad currently serves as:

  • Board Member for Kitsap Community Resources (KCR), providing programs and services to meet the needs of Kitsap County’s low-income residents. KCR provides these services in partnership with local private and public organizations, including schools, churches, housing authorities, Olympic College, Kitsap County, state agencies, health districts, and private businesses.

  • Board Member for Peninsula Services, a nonprofit organization delivering advocacy, employment housing-related support, and community-based programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Bremerton, with services extending across Kitsap, Mason, and Thurston Counties.

  • Member of the Substance Use Recovery Services Advisory Committee (SURSAC), which provides policy recommendations to the legislature. Chad was appointed to SURSAC by Washington Healthcare Authority following the Washington State Supreme Court Blake decision that found Washington State’s drug possession statute unconstitutional. The SURSAC was enacted through legislation in 2021 and includes a panel of individuals with expertise in behavioral health needs, harm reduction, outreach, treatment, and recovery support services.

  • Executive Board Member, Treasurer, Chair of the Judicial Evaluation Committee, and Legislative Committee Member of the Washington State Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (WAPA). Chad regularly testifies in front of legislative committees on public safety issues that impact the people of Kitsap County.

  • Appointed Washington State Minority and Justice Commissioner, seeking to foster and support a fair and bias-free judicial system in Washington State.

Chad is also a member of the:

  • Kitsap County Bar Association. Chad has previously served as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Trustee of the Kitsap Bar Association. He has also worked with the Washington State Bar Association to create an attorney training for the Kitsap County Bar Association that is held every October in Poulsbo (open to all attorneys, not just prosecutors). Chad is also a two-time winner of the Kitsap County Bar Association’s President’s Award for his service.

  • National District Attorneys Association (NDAA), a national, non-partisan, non-profit association that provides training, technical assistance, and services to prosecutors around the country. Chad has attended multiple NDAA conferences on prosecutor office management and victim services.

  • Washington State Bar Association (WSBA), representing Washington prosecutors and the WSBA at the national Legal Deserts conference in 2024. This conference focused on finding solutions for ongoing staffing and attorney vacancy issues across the country.

  • Police And Community Together (PACT). Organized by Partnering for Youth Achievement (PYA), PACT meetings allow police, prosecutors, elected officials, and community members to meet and discuss local issues. PACT meets regularly in Bremerton and has also held meetings in Poulsbo. Chad began attending PACT meetings when he was a deputy prosecuting attorney and continues to attend every meeting since taking office as Prosecutor.

  • North Kitsap Recovery Resource Center Operational Workgroup

  • 1/10 of 1% Mental Health Tax Strategic Planning Committee
